Encompassing the dioceses of Chicago, Joliet, and Rockford in Illinois, the Mother Cabrini Regional Fraternity is one of 30 regional fraternities of the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) in the USA. Formerly known as the Third Order of St. Francis, the SFO is an official Order within the Catholic Church for lay men and women and was established by St. Francis of Assisi in 1221. Please note the following updates to our Regional Calendar:

  • Apostolic Action Workshop: This has been postponed until 2011.
  • Leadership Workshop: The date has changed to July 10.

Regional Appointments

January 17, 2010

Yesterday, the newly-elected officers of the Mother Cabrini Regional Fraternity held their first council meeting, during which they appointed the remaining council positions. The following brothers and sisters have been appointed to serve on the Regional Executive Council through December 2012:

  • Councilor for Communications/Public Relations:
    Gloria Huerta, SFO
    (St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity, Fox Valley)
  • Councilor for Fraternal Life:
    Bonnie Michels, SFO
    (Northwest Franciscan Community of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Palatine)
  • Councilor for JPIC (formerly Apostolates):
    Stephanie Sormane, SFO
    (St. Bernardine of Siena Fraternity, Wayne)
  • Councilor for Vocations:
    Norman Mosk, SFO*
    (St. Francis-St. Louis Fraternity, Chicago)

    * Re-appointed to third term.

The duties of the previously-existing role of Councilor for Visitations have been incorporated into the Secretary’s office. In addition, the Councilor for Youth/Young Adults will not be filled at this time; the council may fill this role later in the summer.
