Regional Appointment: Councilor for Youth/Young Adults

The Regional Executive Council has appointed Kristi Loar, SFO of St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity (Fox Valley) as the Councilor for Youth/Young Adults, who will serve on the council through December 2012. She has extensive experience in this area and brings a joyful and enthusiastic spirit to the position.

Regional Appointment: Councilor for Visitations

Following the December 2009 Regional elections, it was decided to incorporate the duties of the Councilor for Visitations into the Secretary’s role on a trial basis. At this time, the Regional Executive Council has reinstated the Councilor for Visitations’ office and has appointed Muriel Baum, SFO of St. Maximilian Kolbe Fraternity (Libertyville) to serve on the council through December 2012.

Yesterday, the newly-elected officers of the Mother Cabrini Regional Fraternity held their first council meeting, during which they appointed the remaining council positions. The following brothers and sisters have been appointed to serve on the Regional Executive Council through December 2012:

  • Councilor for Communications/Public Relations:
    Gloria Huerta, SFO
    (St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity, Fox Valley)
  • Councilor for Fraternal Life:
    Bonnie Michels, SFO
    (Northwest Franciscan Community of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Palatine)
  • Councilor for JPIC (formerly Apostolates):
    Stephanie Sormane, SFO
    (St. Bernardine of Siena Fraternity, Wayne)
  • Councilor for Vocations:
    Norman Mosk, SFO*
    (St. Francis-St. Louis Fraternity, Chicago)

    * Re-appointed to third term.

The duties of the previously-existing role of Councilor for Visitations have been incorporated into the Secretary’s office. In addition, the Councilor for Youth/Young Adults will not be filled at this time; the council may fill this role later in the summer.

Earlier today, the Mother Cabrini Regional Fraternity held its elections, which were witnessed by our National Minister, Deacon Tom Bello, SFO, and Fr. Larry Dreffein, OFM. The following brothers and sisters have been elected to serve on the Regional Executive Council from December 2009 through December 2012:

The remaining council positions will be appointed by the newly-elected officers during their first council meeting on January 16. While they are appointed positions, you can still recommend individuals for consideration — and individuals can put forward their own names — for the following:

  • Councilor for Vocations
  • Councilor for Youth/Young Adult

Regional Elections in December

Our Regional elections are coming up this December, and all perpetually professed Secular Franciscans in the Mother Cabrini Region are invited to nominate persons whom they believe are qualified for an office. Nominations can be made by a fraternity or by an individual, and if someone is interested in a particular office, they can nominate themselves.

Note: Only perpetually professed Secular Franciscans within our Region may be nominated for elected and appointed offices.

Elected Offices

  • Minister*
  • Vice-Minister
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Formation Director
  • Councilor At-Large
  • * Candidates may not hold the office of minister at two different levels. (General Constitutions, Article 82.a)
